# Someone Else Controls Your Google Business Profile? How to Request Ownership

Find your business on Google, choose to claim it, and request access from the current owner. Google emails the owner, who can approve or deny the request; if they don’t respond within a few days, Google may let you verify and claim the profile yourself.

- **Starting price:** From $250 setup + $125/mo

- **Where:** Remote, anywhere in the U.S.

- **Quote:** Fixed price before work starts

## Try this first

- Sign in with a Google account the business controls
- Find your business on Google Search or Maps and choose to claim it
- Request access and watch your email for updates
- Contact the likely owner directly if you know who it is
- If there’s no response, check back for the option to verify it yourself
- Once you have access, add a second owner and remove old managers

Common causes

- A former employee or marketing agency set it up
- A previous owner of the business
- Someone claimed it by mistake, or on purpose
- The owner’s email address is no longer used
