# Doorbell Camera Keeps Going Offline? How to Fix Ring, Nest and Eufy Wi-Fi Problems

Video doorbell offline, missing motion alerts or showing a blank live view? Here is why doorbell cameras drop off Wi-Fi and how to make the connection stick for good.

**Short answer:** Most doorbell cameras go offline because the Wi-Fi signal at the front door is weak. Doors sit at the edge of the house behind brick, steel or a storm door. Check the signal strength in the doorbell’s app, then bring stronger Wi-Fi to the door with a mesh node or access point nearby, and confirm the doorbell has steady power.

## Common causes

- **Weak signal at the door**, the cause in most cases.
- **A new router or Wi-Fi password** that the doorbell never got.
- **Low power:** worn batteries, cold weather or an underpowered doorbell transformer.
- **Band trouble:** many doorbells need 2.4 GHz, and some routers steer them to 5 GHz.
- **A crowded network** or router settings that drop smart devices.

## Fix it step by step

- Open the doorbell’s app and check its signal strength (Ring shows it as RSSI; many apps show bars).
- Restart the router, then the doorbell.
- If you changed routers or passwords, reconnect the doorbell in the app.
- Put a mesh node or access point within one room of the door.
- Charge or replace the battery, or have the doorbell transformer checked.
- Update the doorbell’s firmware and the app.

## When it’s worth calling us

If it still drops after those steps, or you have several cameras and a doorbell fighting for Wi-Fi, we fix it remotely where possible: network settings, a separate device network and a plan for better coverage. ## Frequently asked questions

### Why does my doorbell work at night but go offline during the day?

Usually because daytime Wi-Fi is busier in the house, or the sun and heat affect a battery doorbell. Better signal at the door fixes both.

### Do I need a new router for my doorbell?

Not always. A mesh node or access point near the door is often enough. Very old routers are worth replacing anyway for speed and security.
