Facebook Business Page Hacked? What to Do Right Now
Locked out of your Facebook page, Instagram or ad account, or seeing ads you didn’t create? Here are the official recovery steps, how to stop fraudulent ad charges and how to avoid recovery scams.
Short answer: Start Meta’s official recovery at facebook.com/hacked right away, secure the email account tied to your Facebook login, remove your card from any ad account you can still reach, and never pay anyone who promises guaranteed recovery: those offers are almost always scams.
Act fast
- Recover the personal account that manages the page through facebook.com/hacked.
- Secure your email first if it was also compromised.
- Check Meta Business Settings for admins, partners and ad accounts you don’t recognize.
- Remove payment methods from compromised ad accounts and call your bank about fraudulent charges.
- Tell followers through another channel not to click messages from the page.
How pages get hacked
- Fake “copyright violation” or “your page will be disabled” messages that steal logins.
- Passwords reused from other sites.
- No two-step login on admin accounts.
- Old employees or agencies still listed as admins.
Lock it down afterward
- Turn on two-step login (with an authenticator app) for every admin.
- Keep at least two trusted admins.
- Remove anyone who no longer needs access.
- Turn on login alerts.

Frequently asked questions
Can someone guarantee they’ll get my page back?
No. Only Meta can restore access. People offering guaranteed recovery for a fee, especially in comments or DMs, are usually scammers.
Will I lose my followers and posts?
If the page is recovered, followers and posts usually come back with it. That is another reason to act quickly.
