Senior Email Defense

Email from approved people only. Nobody else gets in. A simple, large-print email app for seniors. It opens when the computer starts and shows only email from people on an approved list: family, friends, the doctor and the church. Scams, fake invoices and phishing never reach the screen, and a family lock keeps anyone else from changing the list.

What it does

  • Shows email only from approved senders: nobody else, ever
  • Look-alike addresses and forged senders are kept out too
  • Opens when the computer starts, with a desktop shortcut
  • Large print, big buttons and simple replies
  • Pictures from approved people; links show their real address before opening
  • A family lock (PIN) on the approved list and settings
  • Use it on an iPhone or Android phone too, sealed end to end with the computer at home
  • Works with the email address they already have; nothing is deleted
  • A one-time purchase, with no subscription

How it works

  1. 1

    Install it

Download and install on the PC or Mac. It adds a desktop shortcut and opens when the computer starts.

  2. 2

    Sign in once

Enter the email address and its app password. The setup screen walks you through it, or we can do it for you.

  3. 3

    Add approved people

Type in the people they want to hear from. Everyone else is kept out.

  4. 4

    Just use it

New mail from approved people shows up in large print. That’s it.

Use it on your phone, too

Senior Email Defense can also show the letters on an iPhone or Android phone. The phone gets them from the computer at home, sealed end to end, so the same approved-people rule applies everywhere.

  • Scan one code on the computer to connect a phone
  • Put “My Mail” on the home screen in three taps
  • If the computer can’t be reached, letters already read still open, and new letters wait to be sent
  • Remove a phone any time from the family settings

Questions

Does it delete the other emails?

No. Everything stays in the email account. The app simply never shows mail from people who aren’t approved.

Do they still need Gmail or Yahoo?

They keep their email address, but they don’t need to open the Gmail or Yahoo website anymore. Senior Email Defense is where they read and write email, which is the point: scams never get a chance to show up.

What is an app password?

Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and iCloud use a special app password for email apps. It takes a few minutes to create, and the setup screen walks you through it, or we can set it up for you.

What if a new doctor needs to email her?

Add them to the approved list with the family PIN, and their email shows up from then on.

Is it a subscription?

No. It’s a one-time purchase for one computer.

Can she use it on her phone?

Yes. Turn on phone access in the family settings and scan a code with the phone. The phone shows the same approved letters, and it still opens and shows letters she already read when the computer can’t be reached. See the phone setup steps.

Does it work with Outlook.com or Hotmail?

Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, iCloud and most internet-provider email work today. Outlook.com and Hotmail sign-in is coming in an update.
