QuickBooks Error H202 or Multi-User Mode Not Working? How to Fix It
H-series errors mean a workstation can’t reach the computer hosting the company file. On the host, run QuickBooks Database Server Manager to scan the folder, make sure its service is running, and allow QuickBooks through the firewall; then open the file by the host’s name or address.

- On the host, open QuickBooks Database Server Manager and scan the company file folder
- Make sure the QuickBooksDB service is running
- Turn hosting on only on the host, not on workstations
- Allow QuickBooks through Windows Firewall on the host
- Give the host a fixed IP address
- On each workstation, open the file through the host’s name or network path
